Fractal Geometry

August 14, 2012 by Ellen Stimson in Living With Intention, Summertime

We have been full up around here with mad dashes and deadlines. August doesn’t so much meander along as it races. There are back to school check-ups, forms and things to gather and buy. Many of my clients are schools and they have September events and board meetings and could I run a presentation for this and show up for that. This year is more jam packed as I am bidding on several new campaigns at once to make up for a few economic dips at some of the others.

But it is also a time of celebration. Marking this halfway-to-something point will be a big party here this weekend.

Pam Houston, the wonderfully quirky and insightful author of Cowboys Are My Weakness and most recently Contents May Have Shifted will be here for a public reading and then a dinner party after at our house. It seemed like a good way to celebrate fifty since contents have surely shifted all right.

Friends are coming in from all over from Manhattan to the Vineyard. Our house will be bursting – every room will be full. It will be loud and happy. And yes this is adding to the chaos but sometimes you have to add to subtract. Had I known back in May when this idea got launched that clients would go topsy turvy this summer or that I would be running back and forth to NYC on several bids I might not have planned this shindig. And that would have been too bad. Because with only 1820 weeks left to go or however many there may be, no opportunity to celebrate with a bunch of people you love should get skipped. Adding all these people to the kitchen with Van and Lightnin’ blasting through the speakers and little kids gathering eggs from the hen house might be just the math that will bring that wonderful sense of happy calm to these shifting contents.

So come on over. We are shifting and celebrating over here

If anyone can survive the chaos, you and John have my vote for most likely! When you do, let us know all about it.
